Norm Coleman not running for Governor

Sigh.

It turns out we won't have former senator Norm Coleman to kick around in the Minnesota Governor's race.  I guess I can re-mothball the Norm Coleman Weasel Meter.

I love Minnesota and I love public service, but this is not the right time for me and my family to conduct a campaign for Governor.

Timing is everything. The timing on this race is both a bit too soon and a bit too late. It is too soon after my last race and too late to do a proper job of seeking the support of delegates who will decide in which direction our party should go. The commitments I have to my family and the work I am currently engaged in do not allow me to now go forward.
(Norm's Facebook page)

I won't bother to translate the Norm-speakTM.

Too Bad (0.00 / 0)
It would have been interesting to see him attempt to go up against our DFL candidate in the debates.

"I love being a power broker but the odds of winning this race are slim.  Two big losses in a row would definitely end my political career and diminish my value as a hired gun or a Fox (is not) News commentator."

I like Minnesota Liberal's translation. Mine is:

"I've done the numbers and Christ, I was gonna lose to f--king Marty Seifert, a guy with no hair."

and can I just add (0.00 / 0)
that I'm disappointed because I was actually looking forward to seeing Norm lose another state-wide election. It would have been right up there with watching the Dallas Cowboys lose 3 to 33 in terms of schadenfreude.

It may be that anther campaign would have been accompanied by a divorce petition, the rumor being that it might happen anyway. We live literally around the corner from this guy and things are not well at the homestead. Laurie has apparently confided that, regarding a possible divorce, "If only I could. If only..."
What this means precisely is unknown to me, but to others, it seems to be her very deep, traditional, antichoice Catholic roots (she's a Casserly, all but Knights Templar of the Archdiocese in these towns) or something similar. Stay tuned.

Norm-speak III: "As you know, people in government..... (0.00 / 0)
.....'don't make s#!t'. I would rather sit back and rake in the $$$$$$ rather than remind people of my sugar daddy, my wife's ghost payroll job, or the lawsuit that was filed against me."

"...if my thought-dreams could be seen, they'd probably put my head in a guillotine..."----Bob Dylan, 1965.
