| Did anyone really expect anything else?
I'm not talking about the nitty-gritty details of whatever's going on in the Minnesota Attorney General's office. But did anyone really expect that former AG Mike Hatch's presence wouldn't cause trouble in an office now occupied by his Solicitor General and hand-picked successor?
Here's to hoping Hatch's departure allows Lori Swanson to get down to business in the role to which, in fairness, she is still new. She's a qualified attorney, but Minnesota voted for her, not for Mike Hatch. Transition work between the election and her swearing-in is one thing, but it's well past time to admit that keeping Hatch in that office in any capacity was a rather egregious mistake.
Long-time readers may read this as a dose of sour-grapery, perhaps a double-dose depending on how one looks at it. I beg to differ. I voted for Swanson for Attorney General because she's qualified and hey, her opponent was Jeff Johnson. I voted for Hatch because, at least marginally so, he was a better choice than the Acme Auto-Veto 3000. It's a shame that in the aftermath of a campaign he somehow found a way to lose, Hatch still appears to be screwing things up for what should be a very successful DFL team at the Capitol.
The sunset's that way, Mr. Hatch. Time to mount up. |
